One day at a time!

"It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived!" - Helen Walton (seen at a church near my school) One Day Please is about doing something which we enjoy and possibly make a difference in the world at the same time. I decided to share my love of knowledge with children who have not grown up in as privileged of an environment as I have. These following pictures are from Maharishi School in Vellore, India. I did a reference book drive for the school and then we had a creative writing competition for the students. Thank you for checking this out and let's make a difference, one day at a time.

Creativity Program In India - Feb 2009

The Creativity Competition in Feb 2009 was conducted in 3 schools. Students ranged from 1st to 12th grade. Prizes were distributed to the top three winners in each school. The key message for the children was to think beyond their text books and come with creative problem solving and ideas.

Wednesday

Feb 2009 in and around Vellore, South India

In Februrary of 2009, 3 schools were selected in the Southern Indian town of Vellore to participate in a new and unique kind of competition. Unlike the type of learning the children are used to, these children were asked to come up with creative ways to make their community a better place to live in. The children in the orphanage were asked to write an essay on how to productively use a 1000 dollar gift to their school to make it a better place.

What is MahaDarshan?
MahaDarshan is a program designed to develop leadership skills in children.
Interacting with them and showing to them the important aspects of being a leader,
this program works to discover the inner leader of every child. More on this can be found on http://www.mahadarshan.blogspot.com/

Darma Tennis Academy

Darma Tennis Academy (http://www.darmatennisacademy.blogspot.com/) is Darshana Prakasam's attempt, along with her brother Manu in bringing tennis within the reach of underprivileged children in Tamil Nadu, India. The academy is focused to teach tennis skills with instructions in the local language "Tamil". Darma Tennis Academy is the extracurricular pathway of MahaDarshan's leadership program, in working towards developing the inner leader within every child.

10 cents Drive... The tag line is - "IT MAKES CENTS"

Please donate. It makes cents!
For every grade that your child, grandchild, nephew, niece (or any child you care about) has, that is a B average (~GPA 3.0) or above, please donate 10 cents or MORE.
All of this money will be used to spread the light of knowledge to the less privileged children. It may not seem like a lot, but any gift is a gift worth giving especially because it also acts in motivating your child to study better!
For additional information of ways to get involved, please contact us at
MahaDarshan92@gmail.com. Or, if you would like to make a bigger donation, you can
write a check to Dr. Shakthi Inc., a nonprofit organization. Please email us for the mailing address.
